Do you need to rehome your corgi? Thank you for considering Lakeshore Pembroke Welsh Corgi Rescue. The following will give you some idea how we work.
- We do not take dogs that have shown any kind of aggression toward humans. This includes, but is not limited to, resource guarding, lip curling, growling, snapping and biting. All surrendering owners, including shelters, are required to sign a document attesting to the fact that the dog they are surrendering has never shown aggression toward a human being, this includes children. You are legally liable if the dog is found to be aggressive and injures someone. If a dog is found to be aggressive we will euthanize the dog.
- We take in only purebred corgis.
- We do not make the identity of the new owner available to the previous owner after the corgi is re-homed.
- When possible, we try to send a volunteer to perform a temperament test on dogs we are considering taking.
- Your dog must have the following to enter rescue:
- Up to date shots (Rabies and Distemper 5-way). You must provide a certificate from your vet to prove vaccinations are up to date.
- A copy of the dog's veterinary records
- If they are being moved to a foster home out of state, they need a Health Certificate, which can be obtrained from your veterinarian. These certificates are only good for a limited time and must be obtained within a certain window of time prior to the move, so please do not go out and get one until foster home is secured.
- You must fill out the following paperwork:
- Temperament affidavit form

This must be signed and either faxed or scanned and emailed to the intake coordinator prior to any action on the part of the rescue to find a foster home for a rescue corgi. The original copy must accompany the dog to it's foster home. - Surrender questionaire

This document must be sent to the intake coordinator at the same time as the Temperament affidavit. The original copy must accompany the dog to it's foster home. - Request for vet records

- Transfer of ownership form

If you would like to pursue re-homing your corgi through our group, please contact us, providing us with your phone number, and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Please be patient-we all work full time, have other obligations as well and have limited time to return calls. We provide this service because we love this breed but we are under no obligation to take your dog and will not if we think we cannot find it a home. Your dog is ultimately your responsibility and rescue is only one option.
